i have a 2002 x star.. and all last year the ballast pumps messed up..we found out it was the the inner core of the pump.. it was made of plastic, so when the plastic wore out it stopped working.. we got them all replaced this winter with metal inner cores.. if any other x star owners had this problem.. that is what you need to do.. later _________________ Brian R

It depends on when it was manufactured. The impellars are one issue and you might also have the pump problem. I had the impellars in mine replaced and I have not had any problems with filling/emptying the tanks. One issue I have to get checked out is the pump for the center bag trips and I have to press the little nipple under the switch to get it going again. At the boat show I was told it was a possible pump or wiring issue. Going to get looked at in March. _________________ I broke a mirror.

When I received mine (May 2002) they had already fixed the plastic housing problem.
But I had problems filling/emptying on occasion.
They replaced impellers and rewired the pumps and I did not have a problem since. Apparently the original impellers were to thick/large for the pump motor to switch around from filling/emptying and the cabling was to thin so that the pump did not get enough juice.
All fixed under warranty.
