So I added another faucet on the kegerator that some of you have seen on here. Now I can dispense two types of beer . I've got a keg of Guinness and a keg of Labatt's coming this Friday.

That's nice! Is it CO2? I thought about turning my old college/dorm fridge into one.

It depends somewhat on the beer. Guinness uses a 75% nitrogen 25% CO2 mix at 30 psi while Labatts and most beers use just CO2 at around 14 psi. Guinness also requires a special faucet, you can see it in the picture, and a special tap. This is what gives Guinness its unique creamy head You can use a nitrogen/co2 mix for other beers too, but you have to figure out the mixture and pressure to use. I have two tanks in use for this setup, one with CO2 and one with the nitrogen/co2 mix for the Guinness.

The creamy head isnt supposed to sound good, its supposed to taste good! If you havent even tried it, you shouldn't comment on it, Guinness is definetly one of the best beers out there. When you're 21 go out and try one and then maybe you can make an intelligent comment. |

First of all, most of the people I've met that don't like Guinness havn't tried it, they just think they won't like it because it is dark. Also, it has less calories than most beers, 10 calories per ounce or 120 for 12 oz. It is 4.2% alcohol by volume which is also on the lower side.
Keystone is not the same as Coors, it is brewed by coors though along with coors, killian's red, blue moon, zima, etc...

As i see it the only reason for lite beer is to watch your figure.... or else to drink not to get buzzed. And as for Coors Light... well CALL IT -> GIRLS LIGHT cause thats who drinks that water...... Genuis is good but two filling. similar to sam adams... My personal taste is YINGLING and or IRON CITY...
The Iron is tailgating type beer...

The thick and tasty stuff is good by all means. But when you hit your mid to late 20's that stuff takes a toll on your mid section. Plus, it's too damn expensive. |

Next time I guess I should get a keg of guinness and a keg of some kind of light beer...except that light beers are so generic. I think Amstel light is pretty good, but that might just be because of its funny commercials

Coors and keystone are not brewed together, it's a myth addressed on this beer site and many others
http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/101/ask_ba.php
Additionally, note the section on light beers
"My buddies and I are into working out and we worry about all the calories we consume when drinking beer. What beers have the least number of calories?
First, stop your worrying. Second, don't turn to light beer. On average, they have roughly 95 to 120 calories per 12 oz. serving. The difference between their regular counterparts is hardly worth a second thought. But if you must go to the light side, try Guinness Draught. At only 10 calories per ounce, it's comparable to many light beers and at least has some flavor. And what it lacks, it makes up for in texture, appearance and overall character.
Third, if you guys are truly working out a lot, then you shouldn't be worried about such trivial amounts of calories. Try cutting out culprits like saturated fatty foods, foods with empty calories and foods that include white sugar.
And finally, don't compromise your enjoyment of full-flavored premium beer."

Cheap Beer night always includes lone star or busch. I prefer Lone Star to such crap as hinekien or bass any day. Normally I will stick with Rolling Rock, great stuff for any occasion. I think my favorite would be Sam Adams October fest. Too bad that it is seasonal only.... Coors and naty are great Lake, river floating beers too! _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. Otto- what you really need is Guinness and either bass or harp, then you can have black and tans or half and halfs, those are by far the best beer drinks ever. |

True that, but then I'd have to buy another keg coupler...
I usually keep some bass in the fridge, also, some champagne or cider for black velvets
Plus, one advantage of what I have now is beer for real beer drinkers (Guinness)
and beer for wusses (some kind of light beer)

Old folks, I bet I'm the one of the oldest farts on here...33. BTW I hate coffee and drink Guinness nearly exclusively and I've had my fill of cheap beers, thats why you goto college.
Otto, where did you get your setup for the Nitrogen / CO2 mixer? How hard is it to get the nitrogen?? How about the Guinness tap, I think you may have inspired me, I would really like a cold black and tan after boardin this summer |
